The starting point is the village of Orient. After a short stretch on the lightly trafficked road towards Alaro, turn right onto a hiking trail through olive groves, gently uphill. From the edge of the forest, it gets steeper and you walk on old cart roads. From the "parking lot" (accessible only by off-road vehicles), keep left to reach the Castell d'Alaro with its wonderful panoramic views. A little further uphill is Nostra Senyora del Refugi, which invites you to pause with its stunning views. Back to the "parking lot," keep left again to go downhill to Finca Es Verger. For lovers of simple Mallorcan cuisine, the lamb shoulder or roast goat with Es Verger red wine is an absolute delight.
Super great route with via ferrata chain section
Almost every big hairpin bend offers new views
For the tunnels of the water pipeline from the reservoir, better pack a flashlight in your backpack
The cows in the last tunnel before the reservoir are harmless😜
Through a lovely valley to the former stronghold of the MoorsThe free-standing Puig d'Alaró is a mountain with history: The medieval castle on the flattened summit plateau was long considered impregnable – both for the Moors and the Aragonese. From the lovely valley of Orient, a beautiful hiking trail leads up to the table mountain. Worthwhile is the stop at the country inn Es Verger.
