In the wine living room of the Wick Winery, you can sample a large selection of organic wines.
We carefully tend to our vines, nourish them well, and prune them gently. They should feel good with us. That's why we only select varieties that thrive here in the Zellertal. We want to be together for a long time. Like any organism, a vine also experiences stress in situations where too much is demanded of it. We avoid this by planting our vineyards with wide spacing. Each vine has enough space to unfold. The air circulation is then good. Diseases of the vine occur, just like in humans, when they are too closely spaced. There is a diversity of plants and insects due to the varied sowing. We nourish the vineyards with this sowing and organic fertilizers that dissolve slowly and steadily. Herbicides and insecticides are not an issue in organic winegrowing. This is how the vines grow old. Their roots access soil layers that a young vine has not yet penetrated. This makes the old ones more resilient to drought. They are deeply rooted in good soil and reach water-bearing layers far below the surface. This tranquility and stability is a building block for the palpable depth dimensionality. A quality that cannot be proven with conventional laboratory techniques. And yet it is there. Since 1986, we have been a member of ECOvin – just one year after its founding. And for good reason. Because our philosophy of ecology, economy, and social action finds fertile ground there.
"In prime locations, the Wicks have been organic, fine, and small since 1986.
The entire range convinces.
With a distinctive style and fair prices, a veritable insider tip."
