González Byass is one of the most famous bodegas in Jerez de la Frontera.
The roots go back to 1835, when Manuel María González Angel founded the bodega. His British sales representative Robert Blake Byass became his partner a few years later. González created the Tío Pepe brand in 1849, choosing the name ("Uncle Pepe") in honour of his uncle José de la Pena, who strongly supported him along the way. Since 1935, the guitar player with sombrero has been the brand's distinctive mark. Today, the Tío Pepe brand wine is exported to over 150 countries, making it one of the best-selling fino sherries in the world. Guided tours through the vineyards and the huge cellar vaults, where you can learn all about the history of the bodega as well as the production of the different varieties, are available in various languages.
