The bike route to the source of the Isar and the cozy Kastenalm is a popular destination for all those who like to travel through unique landscapes but do not want to ride too steeply uphill. The route, which is always gently ascending, leads through the beautiful Hinterautal along the Isar to its source. A short distance further is the Kastenalm, which is operated during the summer months.

Scenically beautiful mountain bike route on consistently good forest roads. Only a few sections are somewhat steeper and partly more difficult to pass due to coarse gravel!

Mountain bike route for everyone, consistently on good asphalt and gravel roads, as well as on wide hiking trails. Only short sections are somewhat steeper – no single trails!
The last section leads steeply up to the Schachen once again in the face of the rocky gorges of the Wetterstein Mountains.

The bike ride to Schachenhaus is demanding but incredibly rewarding in terms of scenery. Returning by bike to Innsbruck is an option, but equally good is taking the train from Scharnitz or Seefeld back.

Great ride with fascinating scenery all days. Thanks for sharing this ride. We extended the length and shorten it to 3 days. Started from Fall, all the way to Karwendelhaus. the next day all the way to Güfferhutte and 3rd day going through Bavaria Prealps and return to Tirol to get back to Fall. 200km, 4600m ascend. We will provide more details on our alpineduo blog.
