After Creuzburg begins a particularly beautiful section of the Werra. In the forest and meadow landscape of the Hainich Foothills, the river winds its way in large loops through the exposed Muschelkalk rocks. In the near-natural area, small, idyllic half-timbered villages such as Mihla, Ebenshausen, Frankenroda, and Falken are passed, until you reach Treffurt, a historically remarkable town with the Normannstein Castle, which once dominated the Werra Valley.
