The Unstrut is a leisurely hiking river suitable for beginners and families. The river is navigable from Straußfurt, and from Artern no more portaging at weirs is necessary, as locks are available. The Unstrut flows into the Saale in Naumburg and forms a pillar of the canoeing area in southern Saxony-Anhalt.

schöne Tour im Juli 2026. Niedrigwasser. zwischen Sömmerda und bis hinter Bottendorf sollte man aufmerksam sein und auf Steine im Wasser achten besonders mit Faltboot. Übernachtungen sehr gut in Sömmerda, Artern, Bottendorf, Karsdorf möglich. Umtragungen teilweise etwas lästig, da steile Treppen zu überwinden sind. Bootswagen empfehlenswert. im Oberlauf angenehme Strömung.
