The Vorderseespitze rises with its massive rock pyramid high above the villages of Pettneu and Schnann in the Stanzertal. In the middle of the rock scenery lies the still quite mighty Vorderseeferner glacier. The ascent via the east ridge is highly attractive due to its views and climbing challenges. The descent through the south gully, which is very crumbly due to wind and water, demands the highest concentration again. Around the Vorderseespitze, geologically especially interesting peaks rise from the green and expansive high plateaus.
