The resorts on the Prahova Valley catch the eye not only with the cliffs of the Bucegi Mountains that rise up just before you pass the hairpin bends leading to Sinaia or immediately after you leave the Azuga forests. As the supreme tourist hub in the region, here you can also enjoy a varied and often pricey accommodation menu.

The biggest challenge here is not finding a typical accommodation, but a minimalist one, such as a camping spot. Campsites in the Prahova Valley can be counted on one hand. Otherwise, travelers eager for a bohemian atmosphere amid resorts saturated with impersonal offers would be found quickly.

The smaller sister of the Prahova Valley, Doftana Valley also attracts a large number of occasional tourists, among them many eager for a bit of adrenaline.

Perhaps for this reason, some accommodation places in the area often speak about the enchanting landscape of the lightly explored forests from where the Doftana springs and in the middle of which the Paltinu accumulation lake appeared.

Accommodations like Atra Doftana, although part of the premium category, fully value the natural setting of the area. If you get to spend a few nights here, it would be a pity not to take advantage of the wide range of activities offered (with the proper equipment):

Or, you can choose a somewhat more secluded place, such as the village of Trăisteni, from where you can start biking explorations on the surrounding hills and valleys. At Valea Doftanei Glamping, you can find them for rent. Casual biking through the local wilderness is a frequently tried yet so little exploited experience locally, as there are no marked trails. With some ambition, you can reach Comarnic or even Câmpina.

Only a few accommodations in the Dealu Mare wine region manage to offer the ideal combination of nature, culture, and relaxation. So if you find out about them, don't lose sight of them. Sure, in many cases you pay dearly for the entire experience, but we say it's worth every penny. You make sure you don't get too drowsy from too much wine and in the end, you can say you explored the area differently than just by rushing through it by car.

The Nucu Manor, for example, can be a stopping point like a small gem in the heart of the wine region. The owners organize bike routes in the Urlați area, plus the mandatory wine tastings. But the cherry on top could be a visit to some of the few still active cooperages in the area.
