The original Krimmler Tauernhaus dates from 1389, as a waystation for trade crossing the Krimmler Tauern pass.  In 1906, the Tauernhaus was acquired by Simon Geisler, the great-grandfather of the present owner.  "The National Park Hohe Tauern was established in 1984, with the Krimmler Tauernhaus is the only farm in the national park.  The 3-tiered Krimml waterfalls are a big draw and are among the largest in Europe.  They are located in the middle of the Krimml Achen Valley. with no public access on road, so it needs to be reached on foot or with our National Park taxi.
