The Berlin Wall, built in 1961 to divide West Berlin from the German Democratic Republic, remains one of Europe's most significant historical sites. Running alongside it is the Berlin Wall Trail (Berliner Mauerweg), a 160-kilometer route designed for cyclists and pedestrians, offering a unique way to explore the city’s past. The 30th anniversary of the Wall’s fall, commemorated in November 2019, inspired our group of six to visit Berlin. Taking advantage of the long May weekend, we cycled around the city, delved into its modern history, and visited some of its most famous landmarks.
