Klingnau reservoir
At the end of the lower Aare valley, just before the Aare flows into the Rhine, lies the 1.5 km² Klingnau reservoir, built in 1935. Famous for its natural values, in particular its rich bird life, the lake attracts recreation-seekers and day-trippers from all over Switzerland and neighbouring countries. The well-developed and partly asphalted lakeside paths are easy to reach from Koblenz and Klingnau railway stations.

A very nice circular route for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. There are beavers in the Dippinger Ried, and Nordic birds at the reservoir that winter here.

The hike starts at Döttingen train station, parking lot (paid). The first hour is free, but for CHF 5.00 the whole day is covered, which is worth it. This hike can be done all year round and is really easy. Ideal for families and also for people who own a dog. Along the entire Klingnauer reservoir, various bird species can be observed, which is really very nice. There are always beautiful benches along the circular hike. From the bird observation tower, the view is even nicer, and the different birds can be seen from another perspective. It is important to note that this is a nature reserve, and care should be taken not to be too loud, especially when hiking with children. Today I noticed how many people were hiking, and at the same time, how quiet the surroundings were. You did not notice at all that so much was going on. Highlights I experienced: - Bird observation tower with beautiful views of the different bird species. - Wonderful circular hike around the Klingnauer reservoir.
