The longer variant of the Old Castle route is two-thirds the same as the shorter variant. In the last part, it continues from the village of Žabljek to the river Krka and along it to the Elementary School and to the end.

The museum operates as a unit of the Krško Culture House. It is located in the renovated Valvasor complex, which was opened to the public on 30 March 2010.

The Rajhenburg Castle has protected the surrounding area from a perch some sixty metres above the confluence of the Brestanica stream and the river Sava.
