The maritime atmosphere surprises someone visiting Kuhasalo near the center of Joensuu for the first time. All the official routes in the area as well as six campfire places are accessible.

The Joensuu Arboretum
The over 170 acres big Joensuu Arboretum is located in Linnunlahti. The area has dozens of planted tree species as well as rhododendrons and protected habitats.

Utra islands (Utran saaret): nature path, 3 fireplaces and a rental hut
The Utra islands are an interesting natural attraction in the river Pielisjoki. The islands have three fireplaces and small rental hut. Beautiful wooden bridges connect the small islands. This natural attraction is easily visited also with small childs and strollers, as the paths on the islands are accessible. If you come by bike, please leave it at the bicycle stands by the car park.

The accessible route at Vekarus is an exciting nature destination about 400 meters long, crossing the beautiful Vekaruskoski bridge. The route features an accessible kota, campfire site, and outhouse.

Pamilonkoski's accessible shelter and pier are located about 200 meters from the parking lot. The accessible trail to the shelter starts from the corner of the parking lot.

The Joensuu passenger harbour is a beautiful area by the Pielisjoki river. In the summer time the harbour comes to life as restaurants open their doors. Only a block from the harbour is the Joensuu market square with all the city's services close by.
