Route around Eggesford forest

Just past Eggesford Station coming from Barnstaple on the A377, park in the carpark on the left in front of the cottages with the greenhouse tunnels.
Head off out of the bottom of the carpark along the bridleway and follow the trail mapped route.
There are some fairly steep gradiants up and and down, but nothing too hard. At one point you join the Ridge and Valley Walk which takes you along a short stretch of narrow road, but its very quiet with some places you can let vehicles past if you meet any.
You pass through a couple of fields with livestock (sheep, horses and cows), but they are mostly behind low electric fences.
There are some variations to the route through the forest by following any of the many trails that you'll see.
