Wiltshire

Beautiful walk. Good paths all the way; lots of sights - aqueduct, castle, rivers, pretty villages. Several good refreshment stops. Pretty much perfect.

Now Jemma, that was a cracking route, thank you so much for sharing! We started and finished in the car park opposite the entrance to Wadswick Equestrian which made logistics nice and simple. The route was so good, even during the various heatwaves, that I have done the route 5 times over the summer of 2026. The shade of the trees, the lure of the river, made it ideal for walking the dogs and humans alike. Whilst there are cows and sometimes a bull in the field close to Box Recording Studios, they ae very docile and easy to navigate. A cracking route though steep in places, with lovely landscape views and paths through ancient woodland - so good that I am sure we will be doing it again!

A really lovely walk with extensive views of rolling Wiltshire countryside. Very quiet and hardly any roadwork. Great going underfoot. Limited parking at the start - just a small lay by but probably plenty of options just outside the park.

Bit of road walking but mainly footpaths, stopped off at James mays pub for a cheeky pint of cider. Lovely walk very pretty area and a lot of paths looked after

Lovely walk from the campsite along the canal. Abundant wildlife and interesting boating activity. The Caen Hill Flight is a marvel of 19th century engineering.

lovely walk. free parking near station in Farm Lane. look for Great Bedwyn Memorial Field on Google Maps. small car park with a lovely cafe. also car park next to canal.

Brilliant walk, love the ancient hollow lanes. Changed the route slightly at the end ; rather than turning left into Crawlboys lane, continue the bridle way and take a left towards the castle a bit further on (well worth to include this :)

Great Walk

lovely walk.... clear views and no sheep are really important for us walking a German Shepherd. The woodland stretches are fantastic.... thanks for sharing.

Nice route, don't go after rain though - impassable in a few places, very muddy in others (Nov). A couple of fields with cows in, and 1 with a bull (can divert around). Will do again on a drier day.

Some very beautiful and interesting scenery and monuments along this walk, particularly in the first half. The long section from Smith St to North Wraxall, and then along the Old Coach Road with the A240 humming in the background, were a little tedious - but the track through the woods back to Castle Combe was lovely in autumn. It might be better to cut back along the road from West Kington.

The track through Fognam Down is quite rutted now. The rest is pretty quick. 45mins on emtb
