Il Centro S. Fu proprio allora che il Papa Polacco avverti la vocazione sacerdotale ed entrò nel Seminario segreto. Il Centro venne costituito il 2 gennaio 2006 a Cracovia, per volere del cardinale Stanisław Dziwisz, come voto di gratitudine dei fedeli per il pontificato del Santo Padre. Ha il valore simbolico della Sua casa terrena. Quest’eccezionale complesso architettonico, eretto secondo il progetto dell’ingegner Andrzej Mikulski, comprende: Santuario di S. Giovanni Paolo II il Grande, Museo di S. Giovanni Paolo II il Grande, Istituto per il Dialogo Interculturale “Giovanni Paolo II”, Centro Conferenze, Torre Panoramica, Casa del Pellegrino, terreni verdi sorti in seguito ai lavori di bonifica. Il cuore pulsante di questo luogo è il Santuario di S. Giovanni Paolo II il Grande – spazio di preghiera, miracoli, riflessione sul testamento spirituale del Santo e sul Suo straordinario lascito.
