This museum tells the story of the purtains 2 month voyage across the Atlantic Ocean to free religous persecution in the UK. It follows the lives of the 150 passenegers over the course of their arduous journey from Plymouth to America. This voyage is seen as notable as it is viewed as the first settlement of modern USA. This colony went on to thrive in America and at their first harvest they began the American tradition known as Thanksgiving.
The museum gives a detailed explanation of these events and relevant contextual history of the time. It is accompanied by a model of The Mayflower made at a scale of 1:11. This was built for the 350th year since the voyage. The whole thing is handmade and features 360 fathoms of rigging, 332 blocks and 6 sails which have a total area of 64 square feet.
There is also a balcony on the top floor of the museum which give panoramic views of the Barbican of Plymouth.
