At a height of 931 metres at the summit, Skiddaw is a mountain in the Lake District National Park in England and the sixth highest mountain in England.
Wainwrights (class W): The Wainwrights Lakeland Fells appear in the series of seven guidebooks created by Alfred Wainwright. They are not all hills or summits; some are just prominent points at the end of a ridge or spur from a higher mountain.
It is located north of the town Keswick, Cumbria and it dominates the skyline in that part of the northern lakes. Skiddaw is the simplest of the Lake District Mountains of similar height to ascend and because of this, many walking guides recommend it to the occasional walker wishing to climb a mountain. Skiddaw is also the first summit of the fell running challenge which is called the Bob Graham Round if you take it in a clockwise direction. Skiddaw lends its name to the surrounding areas of Skiddaw Forest and Back o' Skidda, and also to the isolated Skiddaw House which was formerly a shooting lodge and subsequently a youth hostel which is situated to the east.
