Salt Hand Picking

The rich history of Nin connects its long three-thousand-year history with the richness in salt. What was gold to someone was salt to Nina in its turbulent history. Salt was produced in Nin in Roman times, and the same method of production is used today. Salt is produced in the traditional way, by hand picking and packaging, and the crown of production is Flower Salt (Fr. Fleur de sel), which is also called salt caviar and represents the best that the sun and the sea give. Among the attractions are the possibility of following the hand picking of flower salt with micron sieves in the early morning hours, walking through the salt fields, visiting the salt museum, and buying various types of salt and chocolate with salt flowers. Nin saltworks are visited annually by between 70,000 and 100,000 people.
