At the foot of the "Dolèda" ridge, where witches are said to have gathered, lies Penìa. The last town in the Val di Fassa, almost perched on the slopes of the Marmolada, is rich in history and ancient traditions that are worth discovering.

From Hotel Sonia, go uphill along Strèda de Treve street. Once reached the central square of Penìa, pass to the right of the fountain along "Troi de Lorenz" street and come out in the fields, behind the village. Proceed on the road, cobbled in the steepest parts, that cuts through the steep slope and leads first to the settlement of "Lorenz" and its church and then, slightly upstream, to "Vera". Pass to the right of the small church dedicated to "Madonna de l’Aiut", with a wonderful view on Gran Vernel’s majestic north face. Top left, about ten metres away from the alley, the ruins of "Insom" testify to the existence of a third living unit. Go back and, once reached Strèda de Treve street again, follow it leftwards for about 100 m and then turn right in Strèda de Vernel street. Get on the main road to Fedaia Pass, cross it and, following the pavement that, in a southerly direction, skirts Strèda de Ciamp Trujan street, return to the starting point.
