Von Steinbach am Wald geht es am ehemaligen Grenzverlauf entlang und auf dem Schönwappenweg nach Rodacherbrunn.

Neben den Autostraßen in Oberfranken anfangs etwas monotone Strecke; auf dem Schönwappenweg und in den folgenden Wäldern aber ist der Rennsteigweg wieder höchst interessant. Und die malerische Ortschaft Brennersgrün ist ein echter Höhepunkt.
