Through the Val Setus to the Cima Pisciadù
Challenging, in places secured, paths lead us on this tour through the magnificent rock castle of the Sella. From the Gardena Pass road, we climb through the impressive Val Setus, a narrow, shady valley framed by steep rock faces, with the help of wire ropes and iron stirrups up to the large scree plateau of the Sella ring. On this plateau, the traditional Rifugio Pisciadù stands in a splendid position on the edge of a rocky basin in which Lake Pisciadù lies picturesquely. From the large, much-visited refuge, the trail continues along steep scree paths and over secured rock steps to the magnificent panoramic summit of the Cima Pisciadù. From the hut of the same name, the summit, which seems impregnable for hikers, is climbed in a large arc over its southern flank. After the detour to the summit, we can take a well-deserved snack or cappuchino break in the Pisciadù hut before we descend via the likewise secured trail through the Mittagstal valley back to the pass road.
