One of the most special hiking trails near Budapest offering stunning views to more directions.

Earl's Track is a most memorable panoramic trail running along the steep western side of Pilis-tető. The switchbacks offer a series of gorgeous views over Pilisvörösvár Basin and mountain ranges of Dunazug area with Buda Hills, Pilis Mountain, Visegrád Mountain and even Gerecse Hills. No doubt it is one of a kind near Budapest. While it is common to enjoy panoramic views from peaks and artificial towers, this trail passing barren slopes provides a ceaseless experience of a bird's-eye view.

Pilis-tető (756 m) is highest mount in the area so advancing on the trail gradually grants a view from above over each neighbouring range. The trail traverses a calcareous shrubland and grassland with unique vegatation and white limestone outcrops. The light coloured rock reflects sunlights resulting in a warm microclimate, although the thin soil allows for stunted plants, at some places herbaceous plants only (plants without a persistent woody stem).

The green landscape of Pilisvörösvár Basin separating Buda Hills and Pilis Mountains is scattered by satelite towns of Budapest and the capital itself is visible too. The horst and graben topography of Pilis Mountains is also easy to recognise with the alternating landscape of valleys and ridges.
