As a result of a win-win agreement a private company’s cell tower functions as a lookout tower near Szarvaskő on the edge of Bükk Mountains. The wonderful view truly explains why the village is considered to have one of the most beautiful locations in the country.
Szarvaskő is located on the western rim of Bükk in a majestic valley. The landscape is made up by the valley of Eger Creek, steep volcanic cliffs and the winding railway, which is most enjoyable from the lookout tower on Major-tető.
In 2004 a mobile service provider chose Major-tető (360 m) to build a cell tower on and agreed with the local government to integrate it into a lookout tower. As a result of this win-win agreement the cell tower is partly covered by a wooden structure, which offers a great panoramic view over the area at a height of 30 meters. Besides the immediate surroundings you can enjoy the view over the Bükk Plateau and Eger, too.
The Blue \ (K\) nature trail of 11 stations guides you from the village center to Várhegy via Akasztó-hegy and Major-tető (nearly 10 km).
