The 26-meter-high lookout tower opened in October,2017 sitting at the peak of Kecske-stone (421 m), Romhány-hill. It offers a full panorama and introduces interesting facts about the neighborhood. It is accessible by a short detour from the Blue Trail. It was named after the historic Prónay family.
128 stairs need to be climbed to see the endless beauties of the landscape. If we are only a few of us we can hear the sound of the porous iron structure. Panorama can be ’’enjoyable’’ in three ways. We can simply look around, or use the telescope to identify more details or with the help of the pictures on the handrail. The latter is worth doing because this way we can discover every peak and element of the landscape- and even can get information about the covered ones.
In the north Selmec-hills with the Szitnya-peak can be seen, turning northwest Börzsöny hill comes into view. We can observe Visegrád hills, Pilis and Naszály in southwest and the rolling hills of Gödöllő in the south. In the east Szanda hill, farther Mátra and Karancs hills are visible.
At lower levels we can get familiar with cultural, historical a geological aspects of neighboring villages.
Approaching from the south get off at bus stop ’’Alsópetény, községháza’’. Buses mainly start from Vác or Nógrádsáp.
From north get off at coach station ’’Romhány, szövetkezeti bolt’’.
From Alsópetény bus stop follow the Blue (K) markers to north. After 3.1 km turn left and change to Blue▲ (K▲) leading to the tower (3.4 km)
Starting from Romhány bus stop head southeast and follow the ’’ Zöldút” marker resembling a letter “Z” on Kossuth street. At the first junction turn right at Zrínyi Miklós street. From there onwards follow Blue (K) markers until a crossroad (4.8 km) where change to Blue ▲(K▲)(5.1 km).
Park along the roadside. There are no specific parking areas.
