The longest chairlift in Hungary, four ropes courses, a summer and winter bobsled run, an ice rink, a unique zipline and a cableway, ski slopes with snow cannon and many more adrenaline boosting adventures are awaiting visitors of the biggest tourist attraction of Sátoraljaújhely in the Zemplén Mountains all year round.

Zemplén Adventure Park is located in Sátoraljaújhely, the northernmost town of the country, more precisely on Magas-hegy (High Hill) rising over the town. The park that has had the longest chairlift in the country since 2001 has become a complex amusement centre by today. The chairlift takes the passengers – two at a time – to the top of Magas-hegy with only one intermediary stop. If you cover the 1332 meter long route, from the top of the 503 meter high hill, you will get a wonderful panorama over Sátoraljaújhely and Zemplén Mountains.

The expansion of the park started in 2009 with the bobsled run. On the 2275 meter long run the maximum speed is 37 km per hour. In 2014 and 2015 the zipline (The Hawk) and the glass panoramic cableway (The bumble-bee). So this way, we might as well cover the distance between Magas-hegy and Szár-hegy (about 1 km) in closed cabins at a speed of 80 kmph 152 meters above the trees. The adventures can even be intensified and combined: you can go to the top from the lowest station of the park by chairlift, then take the zipline to Szár-hegy (Szár Hill) on the cableway, then back on the cableway and finally to the starting point by chairlift. This is the only place in the country offering such an extreme adventure.

The adventure park is open all year long. In winter, there are ski slopes and an ice rink. In warm seasons, the longest and widest dry ski slope in the country is available here.

The adventure park consists of three levels. There are different adventures awaiting us at the lower, middle and upper stations.

The lower station

This is where the chairlift and the bobsled run starts from, but the roller-skating and ice-skating rinks can also be found here. The wall climbing center opened in 2015 with the highest wall in the country (18 meters inside and 21 meters outside with a wall surface of 400 sqm). A hikers’s hostel for 60 guests is also available in this centre.

The middle station

It is the intermediary station of the chairlift with ropes courses of four difficulty levels (one especially for children). The ski slopes also start from here and snow tubing is also an option. For winter sports fans there is a ski museum in the old ski house. There is also a playground and a nature trail with 15 stations for families with children.

The upper station

This is the top of the hill with the look-out tower and the starting point of the „The Hawk” zipline and the “Bumble-bee” cableway. The zipline consists of two parallel cableways so slipping side by side is also an option. On Szár Hill take your time to visit Magyar Kálvária monument-complex commemorating the Trianon Treaty. It consists of the flag of the country, the stations of the cross and the Saint Stephen’s Chapel.
