14 Eight-thousanders in the Eastern Ore Mountains
Here's how it works:
You can get a starting backpack at the Tourist Information in Altenberg. The backpack contains various things important for the tourist (patch, raincoat, drinking bottle, information leaflet for the tour, etc.) AND MOST IMPORTANT - a stamp card. Did you climb to all the peaks and stamp the individual points on the card? Then return to the Tourist Information in Altenberg and get a unique t-shirt with the logo of eight thousand. You can be sure: this t-shirt will only be awarded to those who have actually completed the 14 x 8000 tour!
A starting backpack is available at the Altenberg Tourist Information Center for EUR 29.50.
Here, however, the peaks are measured in decimetres, so a great and interesting hiking tour awaits us in the Altenberg holiday region, which connects the Ore Mountains and their "eight-thousander".
From Geisingberg through the Lugsteins to Pöbelknochen. You can climb 14 different peaks in different ways. On foot, by bike or even on cross-country skis. Very experienced tourists can do it in two days. However, you can also enjoy it and "climb" to the top in several stages. It is not limited in time. On this tour you can fully experience and enjoy the beautiful untouched nature of the eastern Ore Mountains. After completing the tour, you can declare that you have climbed 14 eight-thousanders.
