How large should images be?
Generally speaking, you should upload images in the best possible quality
. That means: large images with a high resolution. Image files will be resized automatically for usage on tablet computers and smartphone screens. When being displayed on a regular monitor, however, a high quality image is extremely important.
For landscape shots, please use a horizontal format (aspect ratio 16:9). Vertical format images are often cut off.
A 3600 x 2800 pixel resolution is an appropriate average. This is about the size that an 8-megapixel camera delivers. This is particularly important for the full-screen display on the website and the PDF printout.
Images with an extreme aspect ratio are detected as panorama automatically.
A suitable file format for images is JPEG with high quality (80-100%).
Images in the Outdooractive platform
Images which are uploaded to the Outdooractive platform are used in several output channels e.g. various websites, applications and printed material. Here is an overview of all output channels
The general terms and conditions apply when publishing images.
What should I pay attention to when uploading images by other authors?
The photographers have to agree to the use of their material on the Outdooractive platform and all output channels
. All images have to be attributed in the manner specified by the author. This means that their names have to be indicated in the field “author”, if they didn’t renounce or even forbid attribution.
