The Bohemian Forest is a mountain range along the Czech-German-Austrian border. Depending on the definition, the mountain range is referred to as the Bohemian Forest as a whole or divided into the Bavarian Forest (in Germany) and the Bohemian Forest (Šumava in the Czech Republic; north-western Mühlviertel in Upper Austria). Geologically, however, there is no difference. The three-country region is united into a common European region. The Bohemian Forest not only offers a breathtaking natural landscape but also castles, ruins and palaces.
